Jones pips Grezza and now we look for the wide players

Last updated : 18 June 2014 By Tony Scholes

It was always close but Jones, who ended the first vote in fourth place, was always in front and ended it just ahead of the current Fleetwood manager Alexander.

Jones won 36.3% of the vote with Alexander right behind with 34.4%. Jack Cork was again third with 19.1% whilst Chris McCann and Richard Chaplow were next with 5.3% and 1.1% respectively.

The rest of the field all received less than one per cent. They were Tony Grant and Marvin Bartley (0.7%), John Spicer and Kevin McDonald (0.6%), Micah Hye (0.4%), Brian Stock (0.2%) with all of James O'Connor, Garreth O'Connor, Alan Mahon and Joey Gudjonsson winning 0.1% of the vote.

That means the central defensive partnership of last season, Marney and Jones, are paired together as we now go looking for the first of the two wide players.

There are ten players to select from starting with Graham Branch whose last three years at the club were the first of the three years included in this vote. He's followed by Jean-Louis Valois and John Oster who both played during the 2004/05 season.

Summer 2005 signing Wade Elliott comes next and then it's Chris Eagles who arrived at Turf Moor three years later.

Ross Wallace, signed in the summer of 2010, and both Keith Treacy and Junior Stanislas (summer 2011 signings) come next whilst the last two are Scott Arfield and Michael Kightly who were both signed during the summer transfer window of last year, Kightly in a season long loan deal from Stoke.

You can vote via the front page of the site or the VOTING POLLS page and voting runs until the end of Friday after which the vote will start for the second wide player.

Those selected so far are: Tom Heaton, Kieran Trippier, Gary Cahill, Jason Shackell, Ben Mee, Dean Marney and David Jones.
