The first decade of the 20th Century is not one that will be remembered well by Burnley Football Club. It had started with us losing our First Division status, something that we never threatened to regain throughout the decade.

The 1909/10 season had come to an end with Burnley having finished 14th in the Second Division and without a manager following the tragic death of Spen Whittaker.
