Clarets Mad - Tw*t of the Week, Week 10

Tw*t of the Week - John Brandwood
Brandwood, with no assistance from anyone else whatsoever, cost a lot of people a lot of time and money on Boxing Day by first putting on and then postponing our game at Rotherham. It was only after he had called it off at around 1:45 p.m. that he admitted that the game would not have gone ahead with a 12:00 noon kick off even though he chose not to postpone it at that time.

Football fans don't like games being called off but do accept that it is part and parcel of the game. Many of us suspected during the morning that the game could be in doubt but once given the go ahead at noon the routes to South Yorkshire soon filled up.

The problem was the ridiculous way Brandwood went about it. Why on earth did he not call it off at noon? Oh no, he though it was going to improve – where does he think Rotherham is, the bloody Caribbean?

Mr. Brandwood must be accountable for his actions and surely the FA or the Football League and his own association should be doing something about this farce. If a referee can be demoted for making one bad decision out on the pitch then quite clearly Mr. Brandwood should now be serving a suspension.

Both clubs and their supporters deserve a full explanation as to how this nonsense was allowed to happen. I won't hold my breath.

Runner-up - Kevin Keegan
Runner-up this week is the game's current top whinger – Kevin Keegan. We shall probably see some examples of it tomorrow but basically if City win a free kick it is correct but if they concede one it is incorrect. In recent weeks he has defended his own player for deliberately scoring with his hand, verbally attacked a Wolves player who was, somewhat harshly, sent off and now complained once again because one of his players was sent off.

The game is not run just for your benefit Mr. Keegan – and I'll love it if you win nothing again this season. Decisions do go against you, I can assure you we get more than our fair share of bad decisions against us. I think the same probably applies to most clubs.

It seems you get more exposure at KKMC in the press but haven't you realised yet they are taking the mickey letting you go on week after week after week.

Third place this week belongs to someone who is becoming a regular in this section, Bird from Bird's Eye View on the official site. Nobody is really bothered what time you got to Rotherham for the game, how much did it cost you for the day out?

Third place - Bird
Then he goes on at the lack of facilities at Rotherham daring to suggest they should have covering or under soil heating. He seems to be the only person pointing any fingers at Rotherham, a club that is struggling financially and has just climbed two divisions. He seems to have a very short memory, it's not that long ago that the club with the worst reputation for late postponements and frozen pitches was Burnley. Does he really think that without the current board in place we would have had such facilities at Turf Moor.

One final comment on his article this week? Had he read Andy Robinson's Clarets Mad piece on Christmas Day fixtures before penning his own? There was no sign of any credit.

Please though, don't nominate him again, it forces me to go and read it.

That's it for this week, and the first time it has been won by a referee:
