Could be a top club next if Burnley beat Barnsley

Coach Michael Jolley was delighted with the performance in beating Wigan 3-0 and said: "I am really proud of the team. We have been on a good run recently and this was a fixture to showcase how we play and the lads were excellent all the way through, so I'm delighted with the win, and to progress of course.

"It's nice to win one game, but we want to go deep in this competition and equally we want to get some of the lads around the first team, which is ultimately why the development squad exists."

Ntumba Massanka scored the first two goals and the in form striker was quick to praise his team mates. "It's good for the team and myself as well to boost my confidence," he said. "The lads were excellent and it shows  that we're doing well."

The friendlies continue, beginning with a game at Liverpool tomorrow, as we await a date for the next round. These games are scheduled to be played within fourteen days of 5th October.

Once completed, the winners will move into the Round of 32. The competition at this stage, with the introduction of EPPP Category 1 clubs, will remain on a regional basis but will go national in the following Round of 16.
