Nolan could be on Stan's list

The player in question is right-back Ian Nolan who has been at Bradford for just a year after signing on a Bosman from Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday. He hasn’t made a major impact though and has started less than half of their Premiership games this season.

The 30 year-old Nolan started his career at Preston but was released ten years ago without ever making a first team appearance. He moved on to Tranmere Rovers and eight years on the Wirral made 88 league appearances before a big money move to Sheffield Wednesday, the fee was £1.5million.

In six years at Hillsborough he played in 165 league games before moving on to Bradford City last summer following Wednesday’s relegation. It is believed that he has been released by Bradford City and if that is the case then there would be no transfer fee involved.

The right-back position for the Clarets last season was probably the most often changed. With the system changing at times we had several players occupying the full-back or wing-back position on the right hand side. Paul Weller played there in the first game at Bolton and the season ended with Mitchell Thomas in that position. We also saw Glen Little, Micky Mellon and Dean West there at various stages of the season.

Stan could be looking for someone to hold down that position on a permanent basis and Nolan could be the one he is looking at. He could even invite his sisters for the Clarets Foundation Party.
