Port Vale are new Alliance leaders as Blackpool crash

Three of the six games fell victim to the weather but the games involving the top two went ahead and what a shock for long time leaders Blackpool who travelled to Oldham only to return home on the wrong end of an 8-0 hammering.

They must have known that the top position could be lost with Port Vale, unbeaten this season, facing a trip to bottom of the league Tranmere, and so it proved as Vale came home with a victory to claim top spot with a one point lead.

What had looked for so long this season as something of a stroll for the Seasiders is now anything but with a number of sides, including Rochdale and ourselves, in with a real chance now of finishing the season in first place.

Shrewsbury came out on top in the other game played against Wrexham.

Burnley will hopefully be back in action this Saturday when we travel to Clitheroe to play Accrington Stanley.
