The wins also saw both of them go two points ahead of Burnley and we are now back down to fourth after, like Blackpool, being without a game.

Rochdale have played two games more than Blackpool but Port Vale are becoming the team to watch. Still unbeaten this season they are edging ever closer. Both of them hit three goals with Rochdale beating Wigan and Port Vale winning at Stockport.

Accrington were the highest scorers with four against Bury whilst Shrewsbury finally hit double figures for the season in their 1-1 home draw against bottom of the league Tranmere. They've scored ten now, the worst in the league, but conceded just nine, the best in the league.

Morecambe and Wrexham were the other winners whilst the game between Carlisle and Preston was postponed.

Burnley are back in action this Saturday with a home game against Walsall when a win would lift us at least one place with Rochdale having no game.
