There is no doubt this is a big turnaround for Blackpool who were struggling at the bottom of the league last season, but what of their near neighbours Preston? Champions in 2009/10 they slumped the bottom of the league on Saturday after losing at home to Oldham.
All's not well at Deepdale at youth level right now and it looks as though this could be a very tough season for them. They have replaced Tranmere at the bottom after the Wirral club recorded their first win of the season against Walsall.
Back up at the top, Oldham went third with that win at Preston and remain a point behind Rochdale who won again, this time at home to Accrington.
The only other winners were Stockport while the three other games, including our previously reported home game against Bury, were all drawn.
There's a week off for most clubs this week in the league as the first round of the Youth Alliance Cup takes place. The only league game is between Blackpool and Carlisle.
Burnley face an unbeaten Chesterfield side. They have won three and drawn three of their six games in the North East Conference of the league.
