They sit four points clear of Rochdale and with 21 points they have already won more points than they did in the entire 2009/10 season. Then they finished off the bottom only on goal difference from Accrington with a total of 18 points.
Contrast that with their close rivals Preston. Last season Preston won this league comfortably but this time round they are bottom with just three points. Saturday started with three teams on three points, but Wrexham's draw at home to Shrewsbury and Macclesfield's win at Tranmere have left Preston behind everyone on points.
They lost to Accrington who are now in mid table and on Saturday there were also wins for Wigan and Port Vale.
Morecambe were the team to miss out this week but they are back in action next Saturday when they host Burnley. Last time they were beaten 4-2 at Rochdale.
