Blackpool extend Alliance League

It's a far cry from last season when they struggled throughout and spent time in bottom place, but this season there has been no stopping them with three of the wins coming against Burnley, Preston and Rochdale who were amongst the pre-season favourites.

They beat Accrington 1-0 on a day when there were just four games played in the league. The only other winners were Bury, who won at Oldham, whilst the other two games, including ours at Gawthorpe against Rochdale, both ended in draws.

None of the three teams directly below Blackpool were in action, but the lead is such now that the Seasiders would still have been clear at the top, and will be this time next week no matter what the results.

Down at the other end of the table, Tranmere are just above Macclesfield on goals scored as the two sides sit with just one point each from three games.

It's Accrington who miss out this coming weekend as the young Clarets take on Oldham Athletic at Gawthorpe, hoping to improve on their current sixth place in the table.
