Blackpool extend Alliance lead

Blackpool were convincing winners and the day's leading scorers with five, and that lead at the top has now been increased to five points and with a game in hand over 'Dale.

Burnley remain third but Wigan are right on our tails now. They are behind us only on goal difference and with two games in hand. They've had a decent climb up the table recently and their win at Wrexham saw them move up another two places.

Whilst on the subject of climbing the table, it's not that long since Preston were bottom. Now there are seven clubs below them after Saturday's win against Oldham moved them up five places. It was their third win of the season in a league where each of the bottom four clubs have recorded only one victory.

Of those four it is Tranmere who are bottom with just five points although they do have a real opportunity to get above Morecambe who have just one point more having played three more games.

Tranmere, like Morecambe, were losers on Saturday, going down at home to Stockport. There was also a win for Walsall at Macclesfield on a day when Burnley had a free date.

We don't play again this coming Saturday when there are just two fixtures in the North West Conference. Our next game will be the following week when we travel to Preston.
