Young Merseyside forwards linked with Clarets

Sean Dyche could soon be strengthening his squad

Both are interesting links in that both have connections with our sporting director Frank McParland who has signed them both.

The first of the pair is Liverpool's Jerome Sinclair. The 18-year-old has just broken into the Liverpool first team squad and it would be no surprise to see them look to loan him out. It was McParland who signed him for Liverpool from West Brom four years ago.

McParland's signing of Everton's Chris Long was much more recent. It was one of the last pieces of transfer business he did when he was signed on loan by Brentford last January in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Long, now 20, only started two games for the Bees but added eight more substitute appearances. He scored four times in those games, netting in a 3-1 home win against Bournemouth, scoring twice, again at home, as they beat Huddersfield 4-1 and finally scored Brentford's first goal in a 3-2 win against Blackburn at Ewood.

Elsewhere, the deal to bring Jelle Vossen to Burnley looks to be all but done with Burnley expected to pay a fee of around 3.5€m for the Belgian international striker.

And in the opposite direction, the Jason Shackell story to Derby will not go away. It's clear Derby want him and Shackell appears to be doing very little to quell their desire to take him back to Pride Park.

One suggestion this morning is that Burnley are prepared to do business but only if Richard Keogh, a target last summer, is allowed to move in the opposite direction.

The Clarets are off to Evian in the next couple of days but the transfer market does now finally seem to be getting moving for us.

Meanwhile, the Danny Ings move to Liverpool has been in the news again with both clubs, and Liverpool in particular, keen to avoid a tribunal. The reporting is that Liverpool have now offered around £5m with Burnley wanting £8m.
