Young Burnley full backs impress on loan

Cameron Dummigan played well for Oldham

Dummigan joined Oldham, along with Danny Lafferty, just over two weeks ago and the pair went straight into the Latics' team that drew 3-3 at Gillingham on the following day. Dummigan missed last week's game on international duty but went straight back into the side that faced a tough home game against Sheffield United yesterday.

Having gone a goal in front, Sheffield United equalised on the half hour and that's how the game ended. But Oldham had to contend with playing a man short for the last half hour after Jonathan Burn was sent off by referee Kevin Wright for two yellow card offences.

Dummigan was one of the players singled out for praise by the local media at Oldham, alongside Carl Winchester and Dominic Poleon he was said to have looked bright in the first half and was part of a defence that did extremely well in keeping out the Blades as they looked to take advantage of the extra man.

He played the full 90 minutes, as did Lafferty, in what was just his second Football League appearance.

Dummigan is just 19 while Luke Hendrie is 21, but he too has now made a Football League debut having been named in the Hartlepool side for their away game against Dagenham & Redbridge having moved to Pools on loan last week.

He went straight into a team that was on the slide having lost their last four games but they made the long trip home with all three points from a 1-0 win with Billy Paynter scoring the only goal.

Manager Ronnie Moore was delighted with his performance. He said after the game: "Luke Hendrie did well, showed pace and good movement and stood his ground well. They play with two good wingers and I was really pleased with his debut at right back."
