Watford on the way back

Tamas Priskin - his goal only earned Watford a draw
They are the first club to be relegated from this year's Premiership although it has looked something of a foregone conclusion for most of the season. They needed a win yesterday to keep their hopes alive, but could only draw 1-1 with Tamas Priskin scoring an equaliser after goalkeeper Ben Foster had gifted Manchester City the lead.

They had to wait until November to record their first win, that coming against Middlesbrough. There have only been three further wins, and it is almost a certainty that they will finish on bottom of the league.

Our last game against Watford was in December 2005 when we beat them 4-1 on the Turf with Jon Harley scoring twice that day, once from a somewhat dubious free kick and the other from a penalty.

Earlier in the 2005/06 season we were beaten 3-1 at Vicarage Road. We had something of a scratch team out that day with Karl Bermingham getting his one and only start for the Clarets for a game that left a sour taste given the after match comments from Boothroyd following an injury to Brian Jensen.

Who joins them in coming down in the parachute of riches remains to be seen but it will two from Fulham, Wigan, Sheffield United, Charlton and West Ham.
