There's a queue for Gifton

Andy Gray and Steve Jones have signed three year contracts with the Clarets since the end of last season, and added to the progress made by Kyle Lafferty it has meant Steve Cotterill has been able to plan ahead without Noel-Williams who he brought to Turf Moor exactly a year ago today on a two year deal.

He'd ended the 2004/05 season at Stoke as leading scorer but he netted only twice for us, both goals coming in the opening month of the season. There was speculation that Plymouth, and then Swansea, might sign him during the January window but it was in March he moved out, to Brighton on loan for the rest of the season after they nipped in ahead of Millwall.

All those four clubs have been linked with him again as have Midlands clubs Leicester and Nottingham Forest and there are more with his agent Gary Mellor claiming that eight or nine clubs have made enquiries.

“There has been quite a bit of interest, probably about eight or nine clubs,” said Mellor. “Brighton and Millwall have obviously been interested in him from before and there's Forest and also Leicester from the Championship.

“I'm going to run a few things by him and see what he wants to do because it doesn't look like he is in Burnley's plans.”
