Saints closing in on Cork

Some weeks ago Southampton agreed a deal with Chelsea and have remained the only club to do so. It now looks very likely that they are going to win the race which will see Cork return to St. Mary's where he has previously played on loan.

Cork has also previously played for current Southampton manager Nigel Adkins at Scunthorpe, and Adkins targeted him immediately they won promotion last season.

Burnley have shown an interest in Cork, who had always expressed a desire to return to Turf Moor, but haven't come to any agreement with Chelsea, and it is believed the sort of figures being mentioned in terms of wages they could offer would be prohibitive to any return to Turf Moor.

He's now expected to become Southampton's first summer signing.
