Ross Wallace is signing number three

Wallace has signed a three year deal with the Clarets after completing his move from Preston and becomes Brian Laws' third summer signing following the capture of Dean Marney from Hull and Wolves' striker Chris Iwelumo.

The Dundee born winger moved south to England when Roy Keane took him to Sunderland in August 2006 and he proved to be a great success, scoring six times as Sunderland won promotion as champions.

But he fell out with the manager Keane and eventually signed for Preston on a season long loan in August 2008, a move that was made permanent in the following January.

Again he was involved in a successful Championship season as he helped steer North End to the play offs, grabbing the important winner at Birmingham on the penultimate weekend of the season. That cost him an appearance in the last league game with a red card following for taking off his shirt to celebrate.

He made 41 starts in Preston's team last season in the Championship, but when he next takes to the pitch it will be in Burnley's colours after today's move.

Manager Brian Laws confirmed this week that any move for Andrew Driver was dead. He's been true to his word and has acted quickly to snap up Wallace who will wear the number 22 shirt for the Clarets.

Laws said on completing the deal: "We are delighted to have secured the signing of Ross. He is one of the best left sided players in the Championship and having him here will add even more to a strong midfield department.

"He is a natural left sided player and I am sure he will make an immediate impact with supporters with his ability to manoeuvre the ball and the quality of his delivery. He will give us an added balance to the team and I am delighted with this bit of business in getting a player who I believe will be coming to his peak."
