Previous years have seen new signings

Lee Briscoe - signing revealed on first day of training two years ago
The only new face at Gawthorpe yesterday was Marlon Broomes. There has been no comment from the club as yet but Broomes, who already has offers from both Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City, was definitely there.

As the players reported back last year Stan announced two new signings, Wrexham defender Mark McGregor and young goalkeeper Luigi Cennamo from Olympiakos in Greece. Luigi has of course gone now and McGregor played in just the one league game, replacing the suspended Fred West at Stockport.

Back a further year and there were just two new faces, both from Sheffield Wednesday. Lee Briscoe had signed and he was joined by Scott Oakes who was given the opportunity to impress. Oakes didn't impress and wasn't signed.

In readiness for the promotion there was almost a list of new faces at Gawthorpe on the first day of training in 1999. Paul Cook and Tom Cowan had both been signed on a permanent basis and they were joined by Mitchell Thomas from Luton and Dean West from Bury

Stan's first pre-season training in 1998 started with no new signings but both Ronnie Jepson and Steve Morgan were there training with us. Both were subsequently signed although Morgan was to stay just over a year.

Two years earlier Adrian Heath introduced Nigel Gleghorn and assistant manager John Ward but in 1997 Clive Middlemass took the first day's training just as Chris Waddle and ‘The Sinister One' Glenn Roeder prepared to breeze in and turn the club upside down.

We didn't expect any big signings this year but there could well still be additions to the squad before the big kick off in just over four weeks time. Broomes could well be one of them if he impresses down at Gawthorpe and, if given the opportunity, in the Isle of Man.
