More former Clarets on the move

Dean West - does a u-turn
Those five include no fewer than three players who were members of Stan Ternent's promotion squad of 2000 - Dean West, Paul Crichton and Tom Cowan - whilst former youth players Anthony Shandran and Rob Henry are also on the move. For West though it is a strange double move - read on.

Keith Webb has just taken over as manager of British Gas Southern League Premier Division side King's Lynn and it looked as though he would have to plan without the two former Burnley players who were initially in his squad.

Paul Crichton joined them only two months ago from Cambridge United but his stay is a short one and without playing a game for them he's on the move again, returning to the Football League with Brighton as a member of their coaching staff.

Fred West was the captain of the King's Lynn side that reached the 2nd round of the FA Cup last season, before going out to Oldham. He's been with them for two seasons after leaving Boston United, his last league club, but last weekend he made the move back to play in Blue Square North for Boston, becoming Tommy Taylor's first signing since he became the new manager.

However, Fred has changed his mind and four days after leaving has decided to return to King's Lynn and was back in their side last night for a pre-season game against Norwich which they lost 4-0.

Tom Cowan will once again be a team mate of Chris Brass after moving from Stalybridge Celtic to Hyde. Since leaving Carlisle two summers ago, this will be his fifth non-league club having played for Barrow, Workington and Hucknall Town prior to joining Stalybridge.

Rob Henry, the youth team right back until a year ago, was one of the players caught up in the complete mess that was Lancaster City last season. He left part way through the season along with most of the squad and has now signed for Leek Town ahead of the new campaign.

And finally Anthony Shandran, back in his native north east, has left Newcastle Blue Star for Newcastle Benfield Bay Plastics. He'll link up with another former Claret in Mark Rasmussen at his new club.
