On a night that went horribly wrong for Burnley in the second half on Monday it was Mears who was voted the man of the match along with winning the player ratings.

He won 28.1% of the vote for the man of the match, well ahead of Jay Rodriguez and Chris Eagles who were in joint second place with a 17.9% share of the vote each.

In the player ratings he scored 6.76 out of 10 with Rodriguez again coming second with a rating of 6.15. That was just ahead of Danny Fox who took third place with a rating of 6.10 out of 10.

Mears wins the maximum six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Rodriguez gets four points, Eagles two points with one point for Danny Fox.

Whilst having little impact at the top of the table, the points have now seen Mears reach joint third alongside Andre Bikey, behind the top two Jack Cork and Eagles with Eagles having reduced that lead to 14 points.

Jay Rod has moved into the top six, moving ahead of both Wade Elliott and Lee Grant.

The next vote will be for the man of the match at Preston tomorrow and that will start within an hour of the final whistle at Deepdale.
