McDonald and Trotman pitch up at Doncaster

It's been something like getting to know you as pre-season training got underway at Championship club Doncaster with several trialists. Amazingly the club refused to name any of them and then published photographs on their web site.

That quickly confirmed the appearances of QPR striker Rowan Vine and defender Richard Naylor from Leeds whilst it was believed midfielder Luke Summerfield from Plymouth, Barnsley's Martin Devaney were there along with Ellis Deeney, a young player from Aston Villa.

Two others seemed to be unconfirmed at the Doncaster end but they were quickly spotted by Burnley fans as Kevin McDonald, who was released by Eddie Howe at the end of last season, and Neal Trotman who suffered the same fate at Preston having spent most of last season on loan at Oldham.

Neither of them featured much for their parent clubs last season; McDonald getting one substitute appearance in the Carling Cup at Morecambe whilst Trotman didn't kick a ball for Preston with his last appearance for them also coming in a Carling Cup tie against Morecambe but a year earlier.

Both will be hoping to earn themselves deals with Doncaster as the season approaches, but for now Sean O'Driscoll remains tight lipped, not even acknowledging they are involved in training.
