Long wins League One loan battle

The game looked to be heading for a 1-1 draw until Long won it for the Tykes with a goal in the 89th minute when he, according to the Barnsley web site, absolutely smashed it into the net when the ball dropped to him in the box following a free kick.

His temporary boss Lee Johnson said of his performance: "Kevin deserved his goal, he was fantastic today. He's had eight months out and come back strong and aggressive. Overall I'm well pleased and we deserved it."

It's the first game he's started since the FA Cup tie at Southampton in January 2014 when he scored his only Burnley goal in a 4-3 defeat and he enjoyed his debut and joked that they saw that he is a clinical finisher.

He said it had been too long since he'd played and he was just buzzing to be back on the park and he is looking forward to the next game.

Defeat it might have been for Dummigan but he received another good review with the Oldham match reporter describing him as the stand out performer  in the game after he returned to the side following international duty. He made two crucial blocks on the line and he came closest to winning it for the home side, but it was Long's day in the end, a fully deserved one after coming back to full fitness after his horrific injury at Newcastle on New Year's Day.
