Nine of the games were played on Tuesday, two last night, whilst Birmingham once again sat things out because of their involvement in the Europa League. They should have played Leeds this week and it now leaves them two games behind the rest, Burnley and Leeds apart. That's two games they have to rearrange and there will be three more because of their European commitments.
Last night saw Middlesbrough draw 0-0 at home to Leicester. I'm sure Tony Mowbray would have preferred the game to have been played at Leicester's former crisp bowl. His side had won all four of their games on the road but have won just once in five at the Riverside, against Birmingham, with the others all draws. They do remain the only unbeaten side in the league.
The other game last night was Cardiff's 2-1 defeat of Southampton, only a second reverse for Southampton who remain on top of the league because of the four clubs directly below them all failing to win.
Tuesday was the night for the late show. With around ten minutes of our game to go against Nottingham Forest, we were the only team winning in the nine Championship games. The scores were level at the remaining eight games.
Incredibly no less than five of those games saw late goals change things.
At Brighton, Crystal Palace had just equalised on 80 minutes but went on to win 3-1 with goals from Darren Ambrose (89) and former Brighton forward Glenn Murray (90+1). Reading were another to win away with Mathieu Manset scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give them a 3-2 win at Bristol City.
Lee Bowyer (89) was another to stick the knife into a former club, scoring the only goal of the game to give Ipswich three points at West Ham and at Watford and 85th minute goal from Craig Forsyth gave them a 2-1 win against Millwall.
Then finally there was the late star himself , Portsmouth's Norwegian forward Erik Huseklepp. On Saturday he scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give his team a 1-0 win against Blackpool. You wouldn't think lightening could strike again in such a way but he netted on Tuesday one minute later. The only problem was that it was an own goal and gave Peterborough all three points at Fratton Park.
There are likely to be more late goals as the season unfolds. To date, 269 goals have been scored in the Championship this season and the most productive period for goals has been the last ten minutes.
The big news of the week off the pitch has come at bottom club Doncaster. They became the first Championship club this season to make a change of manager when Sean O'Driscoll was sacked last week and replace by Dean Saunders.
The former Wrexham boss is certainly changing things quickly at the Keepmoat. He's already signed Pascal Chimbonda and is being linked with a move for El Hadji Diouf. I suspect it will all end in tears.
They remain bottom despite picking up four points in two games but are now just one point behind Bristol City and two points behind Millwall and Coventry.
Next manager to go? Keith Millen at Bristol City looks clear favourite. Watch this space.
