Kettle goes on at 7:45

The 49-year-old first refereed us at Cardiff in the 2004/05 season, his second season as a Football League referee. There was nothing too much to report that day but he's had some nightmares since.

He was the first referee to award us a penalty for 16 months when he pointed to the spot at Sunderland in 2007, but it was a shocking decision as was the one he'd given Sunderland earlier in the game.

He sent off Steven Caldwell at Doncaster in 2008 when it looked a yellow card and his allowing of a Norwich equaliser at Carrow Road on our last league visit there in 2010 was appalling.

Kettle had a reputation for waving cards. Incredibly, in his first 16 games as a Football League referee he sent off 11 players whilst waving yellow cards for fun, And yet strangely he seems to have calmed down and last season sent off only one player in 22 games and only handed out 63 yellow cards.

You'll find him 59th in RATE THE REF with a rating of 49.33 out of 100. He has the second worst rating for fitness and positioning with just 10.25 out of 25 and unless he's stepped it up you certainly won't find the most mobile of referees.

He wasn't in action last Saturday so his last game was the League Two game between Cheltenham and Shrewsbury in April in which there were just three yellow cars.

The assistant referees are Darren Strain (Cheshire) and Michael Denton (Lancashire). The fourth official is Kevin Morris (Herefordshire).
