He came out on top in the first two wins of the season, at home against Brentford and then at Bristol City a week later, and he turned in another outstanding display defensively in this game although he couldn't add a goal to his performance as he'd done in the other two.
He was a clear winner in both the vote and the ratings, and that despite some excellent performances elsewhere, none more so than from David Jones in the midfield and not forgetting the quality of the two goals scored by Sam Vokes and George Boyd.
Keane won the man of the match with 46.9% of the vote, ahead of Jones who was second with a 21.9% share. Boyd, scorer of the winner, took third place with 7.8% with Keane's central defensive partner Michael Duff coming fourth with 6.3% of the vote.
It was the same top two in the ratings with the next two places taken by the goalscorers. Keane scored 8.27 out of 10 ahead of Jones who had a rating of 7.66. This time Vokes was third; his rating was 7.27, just ahead of the 7.20 out of 10 which enabled Boyd to claim fourth place.
That result has given Keane another maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Jones has won six points with three for Boyd, two for Vokes and one for Duff.
Added to the points already gained, it moves Keane twelve points clear of Tendayi Darikwa at the top of the table with Duff's point now taking him clear of Tom Heaton into third place.
The vote for the Derby game comes next. That will get underway tomorrow night around an hour after the final whistle and it will run until the end of Thursday.
