Jim Thompson wins Football League Award

I would think most supporters will have come across him at some time or other. He might have sold you a ticket in the ticket office, or sold you a programme at a reserve game or even allowed you through the turnstile.

And if you were fortunate enough to be in a meeting at the Turf then you might have benefited from one of Jims' renowned cups of tea.

Apparently he's seen off 23 managers and 7 chairmen (watch out Eddie Howe and Barry Kilby) and he names Jimmy Mullen as his favourite manager because he was always very welcoming and always had a chat with him.

Paul Fletcher said recently that Burnley, and other clubs, wouldn't be quite the same without the Jim Thompsons of this world and they are words I would very much like to echo.

He was up against Bill Edmans, kit man at Dagenham & Redbridge, Mary Kitson who is the cleaning supervisor at Sheffield Wednesday and Norman Rimmington from the laundry team at Barnsley.

I've known Jim for a good number of years now and am absolutely delighted he's won this award tonight.

Well done Jim from Clarets Mad - you fully deserve it.
