That goal, and his overall performance, for the Clarets has this week earned himself a place in the Football League's Championship Team of the Week.

The goal was Jay's tenth of the season, with five now in the league and five in the Carling Cup, in what is only his second season as a first team regular.

It was another outstanding finish, drilling the ball into the bottom corner, and a goal that ensured Burnley wouldn't be facing a few days in the bottom three of the Championship.

He's in a Team of the Week that is made up of players from nine different clubs alongside three players from Bristol City from their 2-0 win over league leaders Southampton. He's named up front in what is always a team in 4-4-2 formation alongside Matty Fryatt who scored both Hull goals in the game at the KC.

The full team this week is: Steve Mildenhall (Millwall), Cole Skuse (Bristol City), Liam Fontaine (Bristol City), Adrian Mariappa (Watford), Andrew Taylor (Cardiff), Albert Adomah (Bristol City), Liam Bridcutt (Brighton), Kevin Nolan (West Ham), Jobi McAnuff (Reading), Matty Fryatt (Hull), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley).
