It’s not quite what it seems though and this will be England Women against Australia Women, the first time the countries will have met at this level. It should be a close call too with England ranked 13th and Australia 15th.

Clarets Chairman Barry Kilby spoke to the FA’s web site after the news that Turf Moor had been chosen, "We are delighted that The F.A. has chosen Turf Moor as the venue to host the England Women's fixture against Australia.

"Women's football is the fastest growing sport in England and we are delighted that Burnley Football Club can play its part in the progress of the game. The England Women's team can be sure that the supporters of Burnley Football Club will turn out to support them."

Coach Hope Powell OBE added, "The England Women's team has played to some fantastically supportive audiences across the country over the past two years. Australia will be here to prepare for their World Cup campaign so will prove a strong test for our young England side, who are determined to earn their place in the squad leading up to Euro 2005.

"The girls will provide a great showcase of women's football - England's top female sport - and I hope that football fans across the North West will turn out to cheer us on against Australia."

For Rachel Brown it could be a dream come true. The Burnley born goalkeeper is currently second choice for her country and will be hoping to get an opportunity to play on her home town ground.

Admission to the game will be £3 adults and £1 concessions.
