Hughton has been out of work since becoming a surprise sacking at Newcastle last season. He turned down opportunities because he wanted a break but was recently in the running for the Championship jobs at both West Ham and Cardiff.
His appointment now completes the managerial line up for next season's Championship which sees Sean O'Driscoll
