Having turned down a coaching role at Burnley because he wanted to continue his playing career Unsie signed a one year deal at Huddersfield during the time when Stan Ternent was manager.

But there's been a shift there since the change of management with a number of signings by the previous manager no longer required. Unsworth is one of them and although he was under contract until the end of the season he's left the club with immediate effect.

He played just five times for Huddersfield and hasn't featured in the league since he played against Tranmere in September although he did play once more in the Johnstone Paints Trophy defeat at Darlington.

Now 35, he's been told he is not in Lee Clark's plans and the manager said: "The club have come to a financial agreement with David to terminate his contract early, so he now leaves us."
