Pools have just lost Bradley Halliday who has returned to parent club Middlesbrough after a loan, and Michael Duckworth is still not at full fitness as he comes back from an injury.
Manager Ronnie Moore has watched him on a number of occasions and has earmarked him for the right-back position although has confirmed that he has signed a player who can also play in midfield.
He will be available for their trip to Dagenham & Redbridge this Saturday once the transfer has been cleared by the Football League.
