Guidetti has gone Dutch - or has he?

That changed three days later with the dismissal of Brian Laws and Guidetti returned to City a week later at the expiry of the deal despite the Clarets doing their utmost to extend it.

The plan was to look at the 18-year-old Swedish striker with a view to a longer term loan or even a permanent move with him out of contract this summer.

It didn't happen but Guidetti has left City. Or has he? Some say yes, but some say no. He signed a pre-contract agreement with Dutch club FC Twente Enschede and was due to report for training on 1st July, the first day with his new club.

Guidetti failed to turn up and is doing his utmost to get out of the move and return to Manchester where there always was an offer on the table for him.

The Dutch club are somewhat upset and in the dark, whilst Guidetti claims that the contract isn't valid because his agent wasn't present when he signed it. Yes, he's admitted to signing the contract.

Twente are now set to take this to UEFA to settle but sensibly they will probably have to cancel the deal and let Guidetti return. There is no real point in having a player at a club who doesn't want to be there.
