Grezza for Bury

Bury cruised to promotion despite losing manager Alan Knill to Scunthorpe at the end of March. They placed youth coach Richie Barker in charge with eight games remaining and went on to win the first six of them.

That clinched an automatic promotion place and they even threatened Chesterfield at the top of the league but fell at the last hurdle with only one point from the last two games.

That moves Bury into League One after nine years in the bottom division but it doesn't look as though Barker is likely to get the job on a permanent basis and last Thursday confirmed they had a successful applicant with final talks being held.

That appeared to be former Carlisle boss Neil McDonald but since then there has been no word and this morning Nixon has suggested they are keen to talk to Grezza who, despite having recently signed a deal at Burnley, is keen to get on the management ladder.
