Gifton in demand

The Plymouth story surfaced some time ago, at that time with a swap deal suggested involving Nick Chadwick, and although that particular idea has disappeared there has been even more recent speculation that Tony Pulis would like to sign the striker he took to Stoke City in 2003.

But another manager to have previously worked with Gifton, Swansea’s Kenny Jackett has now been linked with a move for him and has actually spoken about it. “Gifton is someone we have watched and it is fair to say that he might be an option for us in January,” Jackett admitted. He added, “When we’ve watched him he has quite often been coming on as a substitute, but he has looked sharp.”

Jackett dismissed any chance of a move for Rochdale’s Grant Holt with the League Two club looking for more than half a million and said jokingly on his striker search, “Ideally we would want someone who is 6ft 2ins, very quick, scores goals and earns £500 per week.”
