But he'll now, according to Wednesday, be a third of what they are calling a three man sporting director by committee following the appointments of Adam Pearson, who has previously been involved with Derby, Hull and Leeds, and was, at one time, the owner of Leeds, and the ever popular at Turf Moor Glenn Roeder.

It's almost 17 years since Roeder left Turf Moor having been assistant manager during the 1997/98 season when Chris Waddle was manager. Since his time at Turf Moor he's managed Newcastle, West Ham and Norwich.

Mr Chanisiri, the new owner of Wednesday, said: "Adam and Glenn are seasoned football professionals and I am delighted that they are joining us on this exciting journey, which we all intend will lead to the Premier League.

"To achieve that ambition, it is imperative for the prosperity of our club that anyone I introduce is of absolutely the right football calibre and both Adam and Glenn meet this requirement.

"They will work alongside our head coach Stuart Gray having been carefully selected to focus on a clearly defined scope of responsibility deemed vital to the club's interests and future successes, on and off the pitch."

In his first full season in charge at Hillsborough, Gray has taken them to 12th in the table with two games remaining.
