Every ounce of this football club has got ambition to get back

Chairman Barry Kilby has said the door is open for new players
Laws quickly fended off an approach from Galatasaray on Tuesday as the window prepared to close and said: "We took a phone call but, at the end of the day, Andre is an important part of our team and we weren't interested in selling the player.

"I think it is important that everybody realises we want to keep our best players. Andre has had a fantastic start to the season and with him in the defence you feel assured and feel that we are going in the right direction. If we want to get out of this division we want to keep players like him. He's our man and we want to keep him here."

Laws added: "There might be one or two people who think that not spending money or throwing money at it lacks ambition but every ounce of this football club has got ambition to get back into the Premier League and everybody is driven to get that, from the board to the players and right through to the catering staff.

"Everybody is driven by that ambition. We are trying to do it in the right manner and we have already spent heavily on the budget and we are prepared to increase it if necessary. The chairman is very, very open with that. He has said that whenever we need to dip in, the door is open and we can look forward to doing some business if possible.

"If anyone suggests that's a lack of ambition they've got it totally wrong."
