Donny get Thomas

Wayne Thomas
We reported last week that he'd played in two pre-season games and had impressed enough for manager Sean O'Driscoll to offer him a deal. At the time O'Driscoll admitted that Thomas did have other things in the pipeline.

That prevented any move last week but whatever was in the pipeline is no longer there and he's put pen to paper on a one year contract. He'll have a watching brief tonight when they face Accrington in the Carling Cup but will go straight into Doncaster's squad for their home game against Bristol City on Saturday.

It's five years since Wayne Thomas signed for Burnley. He was sent off twice in an injury hit first season and got himself two more red cards early in the following season after he'd been appointed club captain.

Those red cards hardly helped his cause and the Burnley fans, it is fair to say, hardly took to him during two years at the club before then manager Steve Cotterill pulled off a master stroke and got £1.2 million for him from Southampton just days after the start of the 2007/08 season.

He's suffered from injuries against at St. Mary's and was released at the end of the season before landing this deal at Doncaster.
