Coyne future uncertain

Danny lost his place in the first team recently and he is concerned that without regular first team football it could affect his place in the Welsh side where he is currently number on choice.

Coyne has won fourteen caps for his country, the last of them coming at the end of last month when he had a quiet evening as they beat San Marino 3-0 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. On is return he found himself out of the Burnley side, with Brian Jensen taking his place, and with the good run the Clarets have been on since he's been unable to reclaim the place he regained after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

Danny is out of contract in the summer but, although not confirmed, it is thought there is an offer on the table for him should he wish to stay at Burnley. "You never know what's going to happen and being out of contract in the summer I will keep an open mind and see," Coyne said. "I need first team football, hopefully here at Burnley, but if not then it will have to be somewhere else.

"It's been a frustrating season. I started the campaign recovering from my knee injury but got back to full fitness and was back in the side when I went away with Wales in March. When I came back, the manager had decided to change a few things round and rested the players who had been away with their countries. "The team had been on a bad run so he needed to change something, and it worked. That was good for the team but unfortunate for me.

"Every player wants to play for their country and when you have been there you want to play again and again, but John Toshack is going to want a goalkeeper to be playing for his club before he picks him for his country.

"There are some big games coming up for Wales including the Czech Republic at the Millennium Stadium. I hope I will be playing in that game and I hope to get another chance with Burnley before the season is out, but that's down to the gaffer."
