Cooky is tonight's guest

Cook, for me Stan Ternent's best signing at Burnley, played just eight times for the Canaries during the 1988/89 season having signed for them from Wigan Athletic, but he didn't spend much time at Carrow Road. He signed for them in May 1988 and by November he was on his way to Wolves where he spent almost five years.

It's just over eight years since he joined the Clarets, initially on loan from Stockport County, and he made an early impression as we embarked on an eleven game unbeaten run that prevented us from dropping into the bottom division.

A year later he'd played a major part in our promotion and was then a regular in the side that went on to establish itself with a seventh place finish, just missing out on a place in the play offs. It was much the same in the following season but he was suddenly sent to Wigan on loan for a month in December despite being a regular in a side that was top of the league.

It was very much in and out of the side after that and he was released at the end of the 2002/03 season, taking a bow on the pitch before the last home game along with Andy Payton.

He moved to Accrington Stanley for three years before becoming Southport manager for a short time at the beginning of this season but is now out of the game for the first time. I'm sure he'll get a good welcome tonight.
