In a draw that has seen all four Championship clubs paired together, confirming that two of them will be in the quarter-finals, we will make the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium in week commencing 24th October.

It's the third time we've been paired with Cardiff in this particular competition but we have to go back to the 1970s for the last occasions.

On both occasions we've won the tie. In the 1967/68 season we played them at Turf Moor in the second round when we beat them 2-1 with a Gordon Harris penalty and a goal from Frank Casper.

Six years later we travelled to Ninian Park. We were twice in front through Leighton James but had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Ray Hankin gave us the lead in the replay but it went to extra time where in the first three minutes we both converted penalties, ours from James, before the Welsh winger got his fourth of the tie to take us through.

This season it's in the fourth round. We've got there with home wins against Burton Albion, Barnet and MK Franchise, the first two after extra time.

Cardiff have gone one better than us with all three of their ties going to extra time. They've beaten Oxford (a) 3-1, Huddersfield (h) 5-3 and Leicester (h) on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

The full draw is

Wolves v Manchester City
Cardiff v Burnley
Blackburn v Newcastle
Arsenal v Bolton
Stoke v Liverpool
Aldershot v Manchester United
Crystal Palace v Southampton
Everton v Chelsea
