Bartley heading north to Scotland

Bartley initially joined the Os from Burnley on loan in August 2013 ahead of what proved to be our Premier League season. Between then and the end of January, he made 19 league appearances for them, of which seven were starts, before returning to Turf Moor.

On his return he immediately agreed that his contract with us should be terminated by mutual consent and that allowed him to return to Brisbane Road on a deal until the end of the 2014/15 season.

It hasn't gone brilliantly for either him or the club. He's made only 28 further appearances, including nine from the bench, in League One and the last season ended in relegation just a year after they'd looked set for promotion.

He was offered a new deal in London but has opted to move and is expected to sign for Hibs very soon, possibly even today after talks with their new head coach Alan Stubbs, the former Bolton, Celtic and Everton defender.

Bartley was Eddie Howe's second signing for Burnley in January 2011 when the new boss brought him from his old club Bournemouth in a £350,000 deal right on the transfer window deadline. Having made his debut at Watford as a substitute for Chris Eagles he went on in his two and a half seasons with us he made a total of 63 league appearances, starting 34 of them.

He also netted three goals, all of which came in the 2011/12 season when he started over half of the games. His last appearance was again as a substitute when he replaced Sam Vokes in the 2-1 win at Wolves at the end of the 2012/13 season.
