Eddie Howe's capture of Charlie Austin is his first signing as Burnley manager
There had been a link with him from Howe arriving at Burnley, the manager having previously tried to take him to Bournemouth, but it didn't look as though it would happen yesterday when he was in talks with Ipswich, and according to one particular wide of the mark journalist was about to snub us.

But he failed to agree a move to Portman Road and that opened the way for Burnley to complete a deal for the 21-year-old on a three and a half year deal. The fee is undisclosed but it has been suggested that Swindon will receive at least £1.2 million for him.

It's been a rapid rise for Austin who was playing for Poole Town at the beginning of last season. He was signed by Swindon boss Danny Wilson and scored the only goal of the game in his first start for Swindon at Carlisle in September 2009.

In all he's played 65 times for Swindon, of which 58 are starts, and scored no less than 37 goals. That in anyone's books is some going.

Now he's swapped the red of Swindon for the Claret and Blue of Burnley with Howe hoping he can continue that sort of goalscoring record with us.
