The new Puma strip is a fairly traditional looking claret shirt with blue sleeves and incorporates the new club badge which was introduced ahead of this current season. There are two white stripes either side of the collared shirt which is due to Johan Cruyff's actions in the 1974 World Cup when he removed one of the three Adidas stripes from his shirt in respect to Puma who were his boot sponsors.
Burnley's new kit includes white shorts with claret stripes and we've returned, after two seasons, to white socks rather than the claret and blue hooped socks.
I can't recall Burnley having done this before, wear the following season's kit at the end of a season, but we have changed kit at home twice in recent seasons. In 2004/05 we played in a special '500 Mile' shirt in the game against Brighton and three seasons later wore a blue and white striped shirt for our home game against Stoke.
Hopefully we'll get the new kit off to a winning start.
