Youths go second after Wilson goal beats Accrington

Burnley were the better side but had been unable to find the breakthrough when Wilson came on for Adam Evans for the last twenty minutes and almost immediately ran on to a pass from Joe Jackson, also on as a substitute, to score the all important goal.

Jackson was very close to doubling the advantage but saw his effort come back off the bar, but the 1-0 win was enough to take the young Clarets into second place, just three points behind leaders Rochdale and with a better goal difference and a game in hand.

Saturday sees us play Shrewsbury at Gawthorpe as we continue to look to get ever close to first place in Youth Alliance League.

The teams yesterday was: Ben Woodhead, Aryn WIlliams, Dean Overson, Neil Yadolahi, Steve Edwards, Tommy Taylor (Joe Jackson 55), Alex Mullin (Mehdi Lazaar 87), Steven Hewitt, Dave Lynch, Adam Evans (Ross Wilson 70), Shay McCartan. Subs not used: Ed Williams, Tom Anderson.
