It was always an uphill battle for the under strength Clarets once we'd gone 2-0 behind in the opening half hour and we were never able to recover.
With just over 20 minutes to go, Preston made the points safe with a third although the young Clarets responded with what proved to be a consolation goal two minutes later. The goal came from new recruit Jason Gilchrist with a volley.
We'll now look to get back to winning ways in two weeks time with a home game against Bury. Shay McCartan will be back for this game and the other good news is that we have now received international clearance for fellow Irishman Luke Conlan who will now be able to make his competitive debut for the club.
