Youth team go down at Preston

It was a disappointing afternoon for the young Clarets who, after the win against Stockport on Saturday, looked favourites to lift the Youth Alliance League title.

But before we'd kicked off it had all changed with Rochdale's massive win against Blackpool tipping the goal difference in their favour and yesterday we succumbed to the form team in the league Preston, losing out to a Michael McLennan penalty twelve minutes into the second half after a handball by Ed Williams.

This after we'd been the better side too in the first half although it had changed with Preston beginning to get on top after the break.

Burnley fought back, and were aided when Preston's Fred Holton was sent off on 65 minutes but try as we might we couldn't get the equaliser and became the latest team to fall at the hands of Jamie Hoyland's Preston who now must have a realistic chance of clinching the title for a second successive season.

Burnley lined up: Josh Cook, Ed Williams, Neil Yadolahi, Tom Anderson, Aryn Williams, Ross Wilson, Joe McKee, Steven Hewitt, Archie Love, Tommy Taylor (Adam Evans 80), Joe Jackson. Subs not used: Dean Overson, Steve Edwards, Alex Mullin, James Taylor.

The player pictures is Neil Yadolahi.
