We raced into an early 2-0 lead although Barnsley pulled a goal back during the second half. We restored the two goal advantage before half time and when a fourth was added in the second half a comfortable win looked on the cards.
But Barnsley came fighting back and pulled two back but we still deservedly won the game and could have won more than the 4-3 scoreline.
Shay McCartan scored twice. Jason Gilchrist was on the mark for his fourth goal in three games and there was also a goal for debutant New Zealander Cameron Howieson.
The next game is against another academy team, Huddersfield Town, this Friday.
