They knew that another win would see them go top with North End having no game and they made no mistake with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Wrexham. It's taken them two points clear at the top with 15 points out of 15.

Carlisle remained third after beating Blackpool who are struggling towards the bottom of the league. It's a big turnaround for the most northerly side in the league who had a difficult 2010/11 season at youth level.

Bury and Burnley, early pace setters met having both lost for the first time, and, as we reported on Saturday, it was Bury who got back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory against the young Clarets.

Down at the bottom there was a first win for bottom club Wigan, in fact their 3-0 win at Tranmere gave them their first points of the season. That took them above both Morecambe and Accrington whose game was postponed with Accrington now in bottom place.

Shrewsbury and Port Vale were the highest scorers of the day, both scoring four goals to beat Macclesfield and Stockport respectively, and the remaining game between Oldham and Rochdale was drawn.

Burnley are away again next Saturday at Oldham and our lads will very much be looking to put these two recent defeats behind them and get back to winning . It's one of 5 games this coming weekend. Those fixtures, and last Saturday's results, are shown below along with Burnley's goalscorers.
