It's taken North End a point clear at the top, with Carlisle now in second place having gone ahead of Walsall themselves with a 3-2 win at Accrington.

However, both of the top two have played seven games whilst Walsall, still with a 100% record, now have two games in hand of them both.

Burnley's overworked team were beaten for a third successive game, this time by Oldham as reported over the weekend. With so few professional players at the club it has left the first team stretched meaning the reserve and the development squad friendlies are utilising a lot of the youth team players.

We got off to a winning start, collecting nine points from the first three games, but as these other games have come in this season's smaller than usual youth squad is being stretched to the limits with under-16 and under-15 players being involved at this stage of the season.

In a week with just five games, there were also wins for Blackpool and Macclesfield against Morecambe and Rochdale respectively.

Burnley are at home to Rochdale this coming Saturday with the league having a full fixture list with Tranmere the only team missing out.
