Preston are new Alliance leaders

Bury, like us, had won three out of three and were right behind us on goal difference and, with the Clarets losing, a good result would have seen them go top. They couldn't do it either and were beaten 1-0 by Oldham which leaves them with Burnley as well as Tranmere and Walsall on nine points, one behind the new leaders.

Tranmere have taken second place on goal difference but the ones to watch right now are Walsall who are still to drop a point having only played three games to date. They are behind us on goals scored whilst Bury are the lowest placed of the four.

Only Macclesfield, besides Walsall, remain unbeaten but with only one point are half way down the league and there are two clubs, Accrington and Wigan, still awaiting their first win.

Accrington won a second point this season with a home draw against Blackpool but Wigan are not only winless but pointless after a fourth successive defeat, this time against Walsall.

Port Vale and Rochdale were the other winners on Saturday whilst the Macclesfield v Stockport game ended in a draw.

We're without a game this coming weekend. There are only three games with the top two in action as well as Walsall who, should they avoid defeat against Macclesfield, will go above us.

The recent result and the next fixtures are shown below along with Burnley's goalscorers.
